Imagine TV Thursday announced shifting the telecast time of "Rakhi Ka Insaaf", hosted by item girl Rakhi Sawant, to the 11 p.m. slot, after being advised by the information and broadcasting ministry.
"We have received an advisory from the I&B ministry that requires us to shift the telecast timing of the programme, ‘Rakhi Ka Insaaf'. We are complying with the ministry's advice on this matter, and changing the telecast time of the programme to 11 p.m.," said an official statement from Imagine TV.
"Rakhi Ka Insaaf" shows Rakhi solving problems of the common man, but her words are sometimes quite harsh. In fact, the show has been in the news lately since a young man who featured on the show died.
Ministry officials said the show, along with Colors' "Bigg Boss 4", has "violated the programming code and ethics" with content that is not fit for family viewing.
While Colors chose to approach a court and got a stay against the ministry order to shift the telecast time to 11 p.m., Imagine TV has agreed to follow the directive.
As per other instructions from the ministry, Imagine TV has also stopped all daytime repeats of the programme and has advised all news channels to refrain from carrying excerpts or clips of the show from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.
